Description
As they entered the lab through the door they had jimmied open, sensors detected their presence and lights and equipment flickered to life. The object of their quest lay before them in a glass enclosure. "We've found the Sleeper, Jaila! We stand to make a fortune by selling her to the highest bidder!" Even as Jack spoke she heard the unmistakable sound of Jaila's weapon being drawn from its holster. She spun bringing up her own weapon.
"We? I expect one of us is going to make a fortune." Jaila's voice was coldly calm.
"You know if either of us pulls the trigger we likely both die," Jack said with her lips curling into a faint smile. "You ready to die, Jaila?"
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 13.0.339 using the Superfly Cycles X rendering engine. Some post render tweaking was done within the Superfly engine and some in Photoshop mostly to add some spectral bloom (maybe too much?) and a subtle vignette. If you follow me, you know I enjoy mixing up content using both state of the art and legacy figures and props. Jaila is based on the state of the art mesh, La Femme. Jack is based on venerable V3 with gratitude to jibicoco who is responsible for the Mass Effect Jack modifications and props. The sleeper is based on Smith Micro's Roxanne mesh. The lab is an old piece by the very talented Ironman13 who is now known as BigLovPose at Renderosity. Although the older content was rendering pretty well in the Superfly engine I did tweak a lot of the material to make it render even more nicely (to my eye, anyway!😏)
Disclaimer: I know pretty much nothing about the game Mass Effect which features Jack as a character. That character is wholly owned by Bioware and I am using her as a fan of her appearance and will not charge anything for viewing this fan art.

I really appreciate it. =) I'm glad to know that someone reads my stories and my art notes (especially the art notes; I figure someone might give me some advice if they know what I'm doing in terms of technique). I also appreciate that you think the spectral bloom works well here. It's one of those cool effects that's easy to over do! XD

I'm sure many people read your stories and your art notes, but these days there's always such a rush and time is never enough, often not even to write a comment (I'm doing it while doing Sunday laundry 😊). Unfortunately I can't give you any technical advice, I've never studied either Art or Computer Science, so I can only give a personal opinion on the images I see, those that for some reason involve me emotionally.

Your personal opinion and that a particular image "speaks" to you for some reason is probably way more important to me than technical advice but I'm interested in any input that helps me to be a better artist and to better understand what appeals to the eye of others. As for time crunch? You are so right that there are so many things to look at and comment on and there is also personal art to create and share and then a whole REAL life to manage! >.< That's part of why comments are so precious to me. I realized that someone shared a bit of there time with me and that's beyond price. =)

This is excellent, Molly! But then your work always is. This has a very cinematic feel to it. The actors' angle, and of course the lighting really bring it all together - superbly done!

Thank you, Rod. I think it might have been a bit better to pull my PoV in a bit closer to the action and sacrifice some of the setting as the conflict in the scene is pair of tough girls in a Mexican standoff. Thanks for the comment about the lighting. It's mostly the result of emissive material in an overhead lighting fixture (there are two dim point lights in the glass sarcophagus of the sleeper, too).

Heh. It's the very definition of the "Mexican Standoff". In my mind, they come to some sort of accommodation for the moment, but you know this will keep happening until one or both of them bites the dust. XD

It does look good and the disparity between he venerable V3 and the more recent La Femme textures isn't really hat noticeable unless you did in a little bit and then it adds....
The poses suggest very different personalities which I'm thinking was very much intended :)

Thanks for the comment, JD! I just used the original V3 textures with a different root node (Physical Surface which plays better with Superfly Cycles X than the original Poser Surface node).
As for the pose and personalities, I hope Jack comes off as bit more reckless than Jaila. I did try to subtly suggest she is a bit psychopathic whereas Jaila is just greedy. =)
