Description
The captain left his chair and walked forward. Standing next to the helm station, he stared at the angry fiery planet on the screen.
"Radiation heat to the sixth power." Came the report from the science station. "And closer and the shields will not be sufficient to protect us."
"This is going to make for a difficult search." The Captain sighed softly.
"Maybe not, Captain." The science officer added. "Detecting a small debris scatter at coordinates 23 mark four. Still within the radiation zone, but it appears to be trailing towards the moon on the far side."
"Identification?"
"None. Though judging by the mass; two shuttles. Non-Starfleet."
"Looks like our civilian scientist may have two of her shuttles in their escape." The Captain nodded slowly. "Adjust course. Circle to the back side of the moon." He moved back to his command chair. "According to records, they were using an old cargo barge as their base of operations."
"Hiding behind the moon to protect themselves from the radiation?" The navigator glanced back.
"Maybe." The Captain nodded. "But a cargo barge is not warp driven."
"So they had assistance in leaving the area." The Helm officer put forth.
"Lets see if they left any traces." The Captain leaned back patiently drumming his fingers on the chair arm.
