Description
The mechanical revenant conducts a tour of the study of Lilja's captor, Baron Mikel Von Reanimeister.
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered with Poser 13.0.339 using the Superfly Cycles X rendering engine; some post work was done within Superfly and some accomplished with Photoshop. The separate images were mounted into a graphic novel page using Comic Life 3.5.21. Lilja Darkstar is based upon La Femme with modifications by Tempesta3d. The mechanical revenant is based upon Victoria 4. The setting is by Blue Tree Studios. Support content creators!!
I did include full size versions of the original panels. Finally, I worry that it's harder for those who don't speak English to manage this format since cutting and pasting into a translator is not available with the images on a graphic page. Therefore, I reprinted the dialog below; if you use Google Chrome it can translate (right click and choose translate) or you can easily cut and paste into translating software.
------------------------ Dialog for use in Translating software follows this break--------------------------------------
PANEL 1
Narration: The Steam Girl conducts Lilja from the Baron's manufactory to the stronghold's living quarters.
Steam Girl: The Baron's instructions included answering questions and helping you to decide how to respond to his offer. You are inclined to reject his offer of matrimony, I know. I thought it would better inform your thinking to know a couple of things about him. For instance, this place. What think you?
Lilja: I think It is...
PANEL 2
Lilja: ...quite wonderful!
Steam Girl: Is it not? It was a favorite place of mine in a previous life, I think.
PANEL 3
Lilja: A fine analytical difference engine! Hard to believe this is the work of the same person who composed the crude clank seeds I've seen here.
Steam Girl: The baron is brilliant. Ruthless. Unfortunately he is not a spark.
PANEL 4
Lilja: This study suggests a deep thinker. I find that hard to attribute to the brutish man who has threatened me if I do not comply with his desires.
Steam Girl: What you see here is the best of the Baron. You have already experienced his lesser qualities.
PANEL 5
Lilja: I am only lately a spark as a result of an injury I received during my abduction. The Baron has no way of knowing I can now perceive and compose clank seeds.
Steam Girl: True. He might treat you differently if he knew.
Lilja: Would it change his need to dominate and likely put me out to drown yonder in Steel Head Bay?
Steam Girl: I expect not.
PANEL 6
Steam Girl: There is one more side to the baron I would show you before I return you to your quarters.
Lilja: You mean my prison?
Steam Girl: If you prefer that manner of looking at things. Before you are returned to your "prison", I would show you one thing more.

Well done Molly! Each episode is more and more fascinating. Even the external frame has been enriched by that pleasant graphic effect! And each Panel is a perfect scenography full of details. I love the various shots and the always perfect lights. The underwater house is a wonderful idea, one of my childhood dreams: either underwater, or on the Moon, so the images in Panels 4, 5 and 6 are my favourites. And number 5, with the view from the outside, with fish and bubbles and the inside of the house seen from the sea drives me crazy!! 😍😍

Thank you for all your kind encouragement, my dear. You have a very discerning eye as I gave a lot of thought to the frame color and graphic as well as the use of drop shadows and the like. The graphic novel story-telling format is a rich method and I am still learning.
The Baron's stronghold is an exciting creation with large peaks towering over Steelhead Bay and then the vast bits underground with view ports that open out to an underwater view of the bay. The imaginary world set in something like the Victorian age is a setting that I love and has been influenced (I am sure) by childhood reading of the works of Jules Verne.
I hope you will continue to enjoy the story of Lilja Darkstar and her friends. =)

Being underwater with the steampunk vibe reminds of the Bioshock videogame series. Didn't consider the whole translation thing for comic pages. I'll have to keep that in mind. Your art and storytelling really draws me in.

Thank you, my dear! I think I could receive no greater encouragement! <3

This is getting better each installment - lots of implied backstory tro be explored - or not - and the art is quite impressive. Keep it up!

Thank you so much for the encoragement, JD. I could just roll with a superficial view of the Baron as a moustache twirling villain, but I wanted to create a more interesting bête noire for Lilja Darkstar, Sonja Steelsinger and the clanks of Darkstar Engineering. It's slow going to create pages like this but you kind comment is fuel for the creative engine of teh Mollz. XD

Characters sometimes do that - grow into more than intended. Kind of like the old game where somebody starts a campfire story and others build on it until the ale evolves into something totally unanticipated.

Exactly! =)

Another fantastic work dear Molly, John's reflections made me smile, I wonder how many time you need for the story and the bubble images + text????
MollyFootman
Thank you, Ute. I seem to be able to produce about 1 or 2 pages of images a week. It's slow going, to be sure, but probably a better way to tell these stories. ;-)

A very mysterious and enticing chapter! I am awaiting in high anxiousness to see what will happen next!

I am glad you're enjoying it, my dear. I worked on some of the images today and have 1 or 2 more in mind. Then I have to set the page and edit the rough dialog... hopefully it will be ready soon. ;-)
