Description

Vladlena finds it surprisingly easy to transfer her funds into the US despite her status as a citizen of the Russian Federation. Molly's art notes: Individual images set up and rendered with Poser 13.0.339 using the Superfly Cycles X rendering engine. After postwork in Superfly and Photoshop, the images were mounted into a comic book style page using Comic Life 3.5.21. The bank is the work of TruForm. If you interested in any other content, just ask and I will help you as best I can to find the appropriate vendor or source. Support content creators as they make the stuff of our dreams. The separate images used to make the page are also included should you care to view them. Below these art notes, the dialog is included for ease of translation by my friends who need to translate from English. ----------------------- Dialog -------------------------------- PANEL 1 Narration: The Banker reaches someone at Homeland Security with surprising ease in this day and age of calls being placed on long hold... HSA: To be clear, the individual we are talking about is Vladlena Bubnoff, lately of St. Petersburg? Banker: Exactly. I have all her papers before me and they seem in good order. I can fax them to you, if you like. HSA: Thank you, but we'll send a courier over. As it happens, she was at the top of a queue of applicants being reviewed this morning and I'm authorized to grant you permission to handle her financial matters to her satisfaction. PANEL 2 Lena: Excuse me, please. This is Lena Bubnoff speaking. So there will be no problems for the bank, you understand I will be transferring a significant amount of Euros. Also I will be converting some bitcoin? HSA: Euros and bitcoin aren't a problem in your case, Ms. Bubnoff. I'm glad we're not talking rubles, though; that would be a bit more problematic. Pixie: Patricia Dust speaking. Lena will need a debit card and credit card as well, Sir! HSA: That would be between Ms. Bubnoff and the bank. We have no objections to the bank serving her in whatever way they judge reasonable. PANEL 3 Narration:A few more details are exchanged and the call to Homeland security is ended. Lena: Hoped there would be no problems but confess that was much easier than expected. Banker: I don't deal with the feds often but I admit I'm surprised. It was like they were waiting for my call and eager to be of service. I promise you it's not always like that! Lena: Am most grateful, be assured. Will be transferring 10,000 Euro from my Estonian account. Is it possible I use one of the computers not being used in nearby office? PANEL 4 Banker: As our friends in Homeland Security have no problems with you, I can safely say we'd love to have you transfer that money to an account here as soon as possible. I can set things up and put one of our computers at your disposal. I can personally assist with the transfer if you desire. PANEL 5 Lena: Yes, thank you! (Then Lena thinks: I cannot believe there is no bureaucratic delay; unlikely just good luck... ...but if not coincidence, what?) Narration: While Vladlena is firmly in the moment... PANEL 6 Narration: ...Pixie's thoughts swirl in an infatuated spiral... Pixie (thinking): Lena sure didn't need my help, but No one is that lucky with the feds. I wonder what I'm getting myself into befriending her? A smart girl like me would keep her distance from a dangerous, controversial Russian girl. She's a political dissident... ...and the best hacktivist I've ever met... and she's quirky and drop dead gorgeous... and... Let's face it, Pix, you're in way over your head... last night when she kissed me.... Oh Golly... I sure hope this goes well and we can continue! PANEL 7 Narration: ...and in the nearby Federal building Lena's transactions are closely monitored! Eliza Braun, CIA Agent: There, Tommy. That transfer from Estonia is our girl. Flag that account and the domestic account. Keep us posted! Leonard Cumming, HSA Agent: I was worried she might be a bit harder to follow. I've got a detail keeping an eye on her that should easily pick her up leaving the bank. Eliza: Remind them that we're protecting her, not looking to arrest her. Leonard: Hey! My people know their jobs! Eliza: Just saying we have no idea what the Russians plan for her... just that it won't be pretty. Narration: Meanwhile, in another part of River Heights... #VladlenaB

At the end you published the dialogue ... you're really too kind! The story is very gripping and I love your images: the mid-shot scenes with all the details all the way down the hall and the customers chatting in the waiting room… and the fantastic last scene where you can feel the feverish work of the employees and those fantastic reflections on the glasses ... they drive me crazy with pleasure (and even a little envy). But my favorite image is the penultimate where Patricia's expression is so well done that it almost seems to hear her thoughts aloud. You are very talented Molly!!

Thank you for such a lovely comment! It certainly makes the extra work of putting the dialog text in for ease of translation seem worth it to me. <3

As for all the detail, I think it really adds to a story but I admit it slows me down and is a lot of work. That you appreciate it so is really fuel for my creative engine. Thanks!

Finally, Pixie's expression as she pines for Lena took me a lot of time and I'm still not quite completely satisfied with it. That it struck you so really warms my heart. Although the story is mainly about Lena, Patricia "Pixie" Dust is a favorite character in it!

Really good stuff - the idea of putting this story into panels was exactly what it needed to up the pace further, and setting the dialogue to straight prose was an added bonus - though I always put these on the big screen to spy on details....

Thanks, JD. The graphic novel format provides a rich visual language and method of story-telling that far exceeds what is available in single images with accompanying descriptions and dialog. Unfortunately, it's also MUCH more work! [>.<] That being said, I'll likely keep it up as I agree that it moves the story along at a more enjoyable pace. I'm delighted that you look for the details and that's why I provide the separate images as well as the page. =)

Indeed you have identified the downside to this format for story-telling! Thanks for sticking with it, I appreciate it. <3

Thank you, Ute! I'm still unsure about the format as it gets a bit busy with all the dialog balloons. I really appreciate the encouraging comment. <3

I'm impressed there's a lot of text but yet your placement of the characters, speech and thought balloons doesn't take away from the art at all. Love the look of the main characters. They have stylized look yet not unrealistic. Might take a page out of your book and start adding all my separate images I use for pages and same time I post the finished page.

Thank you, Randy. The way you are allowed to post multiple images in a single posting page here seems ideal for this method of artistic story-telling. Graphic novel style pages are quite challenging but a rich narrative method utilizing test and may visual cues. I'm still learning and have actually studied some texts on the matter. =)
