1) Lori was a lucky girl! She never needed to worry about being late for school again! Why? Because her Gramps had given her his lucky glasses! While her mother scowled at the glasses, she tolerated Lori wearing them. After all, her mother's father had given Lori those glasses on his death-bed. Then when her mother had stepped out of the room for 'adult talk' with the doctor, her Gramps had whispered to Lori to never let anyone else wear the glasses, or the government would take them away! He also said that when she got home, she should go into the back garden and look up into the sky. Now, her grandfather had always been a bit eccentric - okay, maybe a bit crazy! He'd tell tales of having affairs with space alien babes, or eating breakfast in Bulgaria. The adults would nod and say "Sure, Uncle Percy", then whisper to Lori that her grandfather was missing a few marbles! Lori didn't really care. She loved his odd stories. 2) What had Lori seen above her back yard? That was a bit hard to explain! Only someone wearing her Gramps' glasses could see it. Anyone wearing the glasses controlled it - 'owned' it. She found no clue as to where Gramps had gotten it, or from whom. 3) More oddly, as long as she wore the glasses she knew what she needed to do. Find a quiet clear spot to beam on or off. She'd even understood how to recolor it in barbie pink! 4) Understanding what her 'Bug' actually was wasn't easy. Her 'Bug' had no self-awareness nor sense of history. It claimed to be the 'travel pod' linked to the glasses. Nothing more. It would take her anywhere, arriving at any time. Since it needed a name, she christened it her 'Bug'. No mater what time she left home, it could get her to school at 7:45AM - or even 5 minutes before Britney & her fashion trolls would show up! 5) And was her 'Bug' ever fast! Paris was only 43 minutes away, and she could arrive for an early morning 'petit dejeuner', or late evening to watch the fancy people pour out of the Opera House. Best of all, she could be home a few minutes after she'd left, so that she never had to explain to her mother where she'd been for the past few hours! She was certainly NOT going to make her Grampa's mistake of saying that she'd been breakfasting in Bulgaria!
