I'm just Molly. Mrs. Mike was my ID for many years when I modeled for my deviant husband, Mike B. It was Mike that introduced me to Poser.
I have modeled in real life a bit. My introduction to 3d imaging was through making pictures of my adventures in Second Life and over the10 years I've been learning Poser and making Poser pictures. In real life, I am a near completely retired health care professional and a full time grandma. In my digital life I am a Second Life heroine, a Second Life villainess and here and at Deviant Art I'm a budding 3D artist.
My next big project is to learn Blender.

nice model.

I agree, Steve. I think the biggest issue might be that she probably requires some pretty substantial computing power to really shine and many Poser users are working with pretty basic rigs. It all comes down to time... more powerful rigs can render a figure like this pretty quickly and less powerful ones.... =/

Lovely, Molly! The few images I have rendered so far didn't take very long.
MollyFootman
Thank you, Cassandra! My impression that she took a bit longer to render is purely anecdotal and even if she did, it certainly wasn't prohibitively longer especially considering the result. I think she's the most photorealistic human figure Poser has ever supported. I look forward to designing some characters with her. =)

I'm also enjoying it, I think they did a good job adding improvements but maintaining sufficient compatibility with the previous version.
MollyFootman
Yes, that's just what I feel! Compatibility can never be 100% or there's no improvement. On the other hand, you don't want to make everything else you've accumulated in your library obsolete. I think this figure may be the "sweet spot". I know that male characters are less popular here and production is driven by sales, but I hope that a new L' Homme might one day appear as well. =)

Thank you for your kind words. As with any render, the hardware matters a lot. I upgrade from a 2060 to a 4070ti, and the render time differences can be huge... I still have both cards in the machine, and have done some comparisons. And the time difference varies depending on the number of transparency layers, and how much of the render that covers. in some scene the 4070ti is over 20 times faster than a 2060. But the 4070ti is not a cheap card either.
MollyFootman
Wow! I'm not in a position to upgrade but my main rendering machine has an RTX3090. In the end, if you don't have much of a graphics card and you have a lot of time to await rendering results you can always use CPU based rendering which works fine on pretty old machines.
I'm looking forward to playing around with the characters you released for LF2... thanks for making them available for purchase! <3

She's looking good here, Molly. I'll be interested to see what you and EVargas do with her. As I mentioned to him, I've tried LF a few times, but for some reason, I still prefer the old Gen-4 figures. Probably because I've been using them for 12+ years - that might have something to do with it! LOL
Most of my machines are pretty hefty (I have 4 + one working laptop), so rendering isn't too much of an issue. The ones that take the most time are (not surprisingly) some of those TNA scenes with a ton of stuff in 'em.
MollyFootman
Like you, I can't let go of older figures. Some of my favorites predate the 4th generation of DAZ figures and the look fine to my eye with just a bit of texture tweaking. Currently I have 2 machines and a laptop so you're running a bit ahead of me with a render farm! =P If I'm still alive and healthy in the next year I might get a new machine; we'll see. =)
I'm not surprised by your comment about rendering times with the big TNA scenes... lotsa meshes and textures takes lotsa time! XD

Glad to see you testing Molly - credibility does wonders ")
LF2 looks pretty good, and I think you are right - these newer figures are runtime and memory beasts. Just ran a scene with a DAZ Gen 9 and a Gen 8 figure without prop clutter, texture upgrades and only one set of strand based hair and the thing took 15 hours. Granted I'm still chugging with a 1080ti card but I've never had anything run so long.
Shortly before Gen 9s were introduced the wags warned of the need for a 3000 card to run them efficiently and they aren't all wrong. LF2 is very likely on a par with G9 in that regard, though I'll leave it to you to set us straight.
Go ahead. Buy a new machine. I dare ya :)
MollyFootman
Thanks for your thoughts and validation that newer content is best used on more powerful machines. I think that Poser handles large files and newer content very well but older machines have problems (just as they do with newer content on DAZ Studio 4 =P ).
As for getting a newer machine, I am in the dreaming phase and that may take a year or more (if I live so long XD ). A new machine means many advantages but it also means moving all sort of stuff which drives me (and my spouse who is the IT guy who supports my hobbies) nuts. =)

Dear Molly, thanks for sharing your experience! I also like her but could not apply some older poses on her. What can I do?
MollyFootman
I'm not completely sure what your problem might be, Anne. Although poses can be applied to any character in Poser, if the pose designed for one character is applied to a different character results are usually less than ideal. I did an example of applying poses from La Femme Pro to La Femme Pro 2 here:

There is not much fine tuning needed but as always there is some. If this doesn't get at what your concern is, comment over on the picture I linked to and we'll try to work it out! <3

Dear Molly, I did not use the LF2 pose tool before appliing the older poses, may that is the reason, I'll try it out.
