Description
__ ...I came back last month from a two-week humanitarian trek in the west of Nepal, more precisely in the Gorkha region, inhabitied mostly by the Gurung, an ethnic group considered one of the Himalayan region's major ethnic groups, originating probably from Tibet.
__ The purpose of the trek was to visit the community and administration representatives of 6 villages (among others we didn't go to this year) so as to see the on-site results of the financial support the French association 'Les Amis de Laprak' , of which I am a member for some twenty years. Actually, this support is aimed at building or renovating primary or secondary schools, even a new boarding school in Laprak which was officially inaugurated by the village development committee representatives, the Lapraki ( villagers) and ourselves on October 25th (cf. second and third photos). A heart-warming party celebration was held on that day with most of the Lapraki, along with dancers, music, speeches from the municipality authorities, a fantastic memory for me.
__ The photo here was taken in the small village of Barpak Sulikot, at the very beginning of the trek, on top of a hill from which the view over the village was breath-taking, with the Himalaya range in the distance.
__ Also, Barpak is sadly remembered and known in Nepal for being at the epicenter of the 2015 terrible earthquake that took the life of about 9,000 people and destroyed thousands and thousands of houses, schools, not to mention a couple of famous temples in Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, the three old capitals of Nepal. Down the hill from which I took this capture of the Buddha, we can see a monument to remember that fateful day of April, 25th, 2015, right at the epicenter of the earthquake.
__ Thank you very much for your visits to my gallery. I wish you a nice Advent week, with sharing the spirit of Christmas on your minds, unless you are losing your patience queuing up in the supermarkets for your last Xmas shopping days. Zoom in for a better immersion in this sunny Nepali landscape.

Wow! Karma!

Breathtaking scenes from Nepal, especially the first one with the Buddha. Love the spectacle of the mountains in the distance.
Didn't know there have been earthquakes in Nepal -- thought the region was not seismically active. Good to know that the people of Laprak are benefiting from the help of the French association.
Merry Christmas!
