Description
[Kara is in the kitchen. As shown in this image.]
Alexander, in the living room, is talking to himself:
"Well, I don't know.
This is a crazy world.
I don't understand what the kids are saying - I can hear what they say, but don't know what they are saying. And they talk too fast. But Grandad Joe said the people on the radio talked too fast - and that was sixty years ago; must be something to do with growing old, your hearing slows down.
Same with other people -any age - the words might be English, but the sentences make no sense.
Yes, it must be the old age; bloody ears not working properly, knees creaking and cracking on the stairs, brain going slow any time I need an answer for a crossword or tv quiz, a word, or - well, I think we're beginning to fall apart mentally and physically.
Not, I s'pose, that it really matters. There are times when I want to get off this world. Silly old bugger!"
Alexander sat back in his armchair, reached for his gin & tonic (lightly flavoured tith cranberry juice) and debated whether or not he should mix himself one more before bedtime.
Good meal tonight. Kara was a brilliant cook, far better than his wife had been - but then Kara had instant access to every recipe on the internet and an uncanny skill in choosing just what he would like.
"But I don't understand", he thought, "I used to be much quicker and I reckon, cleverer than I am now.
Kara - my companion - is so much smarter than I was when I was young.
Not that it matters.
I am so much better off now.
If only those strange dreams of former glories would go away.
Odd phrases in all sorts of unknown tongues, and peculiar, somewhat familiar, images of ancient temples - all tantalisingly close and yet so far away.
Old legends, strange temples and artifacts and records of aliens ...
Had he lived before?
Had been someone really important now reincarnated as -
"Oh yes," he laughed, stroking the black-and-white cat on the settee next to him (a stray thay that had marched in the other day, demanding food and shelter) "I reckon I must have been the guardian and litter tray changer for Pharoah's sacred cats!"
Kara, hearing Alexander talking to himself, smiled.
They say androids cannot understand humour, could not show emotions.
But Kara could.
And did.
Alexander no longer regarded her as robot or android. He was delighted with her.
And that made her happy.

Fantastic work!
Buraki
This strikes quite a lot of cords with me, I too found a cat. That's what I thought, at least but now I'm not sure who belongs to who. You wrote a very interesting letter to the world.
