Description
For a moment I thought I was watching The Twilight Zone.OK, I'd been down the pub, so - but I wouldn't describe my state as inebriated - just warm and 'comfy'.
I walked out of the pub.
And everything felt eerie - unsettling - cold, uncomfortable. For a moment I stood by the pub wall.
Turned left to walk home - a short walk - not more than 10 mins or so - I looked back: the pub had vanished. Where it had been - and beyond, to my right, all was black.
To my left - where the pavement should have been, there was a dark green path and a vague blue light. No torch. No other illumination. Weird.
Cold shivers. But it had been a really hot day - 80 in the shade and the tarmac melting - and yet felt like winter.
Maybe, I said to myself, I'm dreaming - too much ale and dozing in bed?
No. No alcohol effect. No sense of a dream state ...
OK, so? Pinch myself to check - and feel nothing.
Never mind. Turn left to go home. Set off walking. Street lights, yellow, flicker fitfully.
The houses are strange. The road winds. Where is the damn bridge?
It has to be a nightmare - too much ale and cheese!
But it's not, is it ...
This is a different world and not the one I am used to...
I am afraid that there is something out here that I should fear. Silly sod, I tell myself. you're talking rubbish!
Yet ... a hot wind hits me from behind, something is breathing down my neck.
Phone battery is dead.
I panic, start running - and the world has now become totally black and I can see nothing.
But something pursues me still.
And I am totally alone.
It must be a dream; maybe if I shut my eyes and go to sleep ....

Wonderfully scary story!

It's almost describing a heat stroke symptom I had while in the tropics.....shivering yet the temperature outside is hot as hell...the paranoia as the mind make sense of everything....and then it all goes black...very interesting scary narrative you have written here...

Here I agree with varasah! His face expression says it all my friend!

Story is very good and the picture is GREAT. I love the extreme expression you've applied to poor Jasper. It makes a great illustration for your story.
