Description

67 million years ago during the late Cretaceous, the plains of Wyoming might have looked a lot like this. Definitely worth seeing the full image espcially if you have a big monitor to display it on. Rendered in Blender 4.0.2 As an aside, the Triceratops and indeed most of the dinosaurs depicted in Jurassic Park did not actually exist during the Jurassic; the Triceratops, T. Rex, Velociraptor, Gallimimus and the Brachiosaurus were all late Cretaceous dinosaurs. The only dinosaur depicted in the movie that did exist during the Jurassic was the Dilophosaurus, and it's unlikely that it was a venom-spitting creature. From DAZ I used the HH Triceratops and Hell Creek modules, with plants from the amazing Dinoraul store here on Renderosity, with all the plants being period-correct for Wyoming 67 million years ago. The combination was fun to set up and use. I had to render this with my CPU as the graphics card ran out of memory trying to render it, luckily I have a twelve-core 3.46GHz Xeon-based Mac Pro, so although it was slow compared to a GPU render it wasn't too bad.

Wow, that looks so cool! (My theory is the Park marketing people thought Jurassic was catchier :D) The texture maps on these guys are splendid!

Well it was developed from a fairly popular book so the movie company used the same title; but there is no denying that "Jurassic Park" rolls off the tongue better than "Cretaceous Park"...

And yeah, the texture work on all of Herschel Hoffmeyer's stuff is very good. Thanks for being here!
