__ ...I drove off to Switzerland last Sunday, for the 100th anniversary of this unique carnival, set in the small town of Liestal, near Basel. This traditional celebration is known for the fact that burning “brooms” made of pine logs are carried through the picturesque old town of Liestal. These burning “brooms” can reach a weight of 20 to 100 kg and create an impressive spectacle.
__ The highlight of this Carnival are the 20 or so fire floats that play a prominent role in the procession. These iron wagons carry several tons of burning wood and create a fascinating spectacle of flames. The flames that flare up after passing through Liestal’s medieval gates are particularly spectacular, and may even cause a feeling of 'angst' ( or 'angscht', as shown in the third photo) to those who attend this festival for the first time. Le premier qui dit "chaud devant !" sera expulsé ! Sont fous ces Suisses, vont mettre le feu à la vallée !!! En tout cas ça t'a donné l'occasion d'exprimer ton talent de photographe, tes images (et tes vidéos) sont absolument superbes et ce n'était pourtant pas simple à capturer, alors très grands bravos.

Mazette ! J'ai beau savoir que tu vois chaque année ce joli carnaval (une forme de carnaval alémanique?) et que tu nous en apportes de magnifiques photos qui témoignent de tes talents de photographe expert, je ne m'habitue pas à autant de beauté ! C'est vrai que Rendo ne nous propose pas toujours à des œuvres de qualité et je te remercie de rehausser le niveau avec tes superbes photos. Tu me donnes réellement l'envie de voir ce Carnaval angoissant de plus près, mais pas de trop, pour ne pas me brûler ! Continue de nous inonder de belles images comme celles-ci ! Sorry I have been gone so long...taking care of the new kitty...Superb capture as always, this is definitely a different kind of carnival...I worked for a carnival when I was a teenager, loved it but not sure I would be a part of one like this...I enjoy it this way tho:)
