Description
Hi everyone! Well, since my muse has been behaving lately I decided to participate in the Pinup Contest, thought it would be fun and keep me motivated. Since it's not really my genre I decided to browse through vintage pinups on the web, pick a few I really liked and then recreate them in Poser. I posted the original image for reference.
For this first render (and for anyone who is curious) I decided to add a few details to show how I put it together and mostly to show how much difference adding a simple skin texture and new lights can make sometimes.
Step 1: First thing I needed to do was see if I could get the dress to drape over the shutter chord, it was definitely the most challenging part for me, and actually turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. A poor choice I made was to let the dress go a little lower because at first I thought showing the panties would cause issues for the contest. I then realized that wasn't the case but had already done too much work in the cloth room and didn't want to risk going down a rabbit hole so decided to leave it. I also needed a brass birdie, which also turned out to be easier than I thought thanks to an Adam Thwaite's freebie. I "flattened" one of his birds, added the stick and then applied the brass texture. Once that was done I worked on la femme's facial expression, wasn't 100% satisfied but decided to move on anyway.
Step 2: At this point it was time to find a character that would work. I tried a few skin textures and character morphs and then chose Aphrodite Ohki's Debora skin which was the one that seemed to suit the image most. As for the facial morphs, I was having a hard time finding a character that seemed to "fit", and in the end I realized that with the new skin applied I actually preferred the original La Femme character. (so basically step 2 is just step 1 with new skin). I then went on to change the dress and shoe textures, the hair shader, and the vintage camera mats.
Step 3: The final step was the lighting (and adding the grass). Also had to go back and run the dress through the cloth room again since the flaps of the dress straps were not cooperating. Adding a constrained group to that area fixed that. Last but not least I did some minor cloning here and there to fix things, and did some fine-tuning on her expression with the liquify tool. I am very picky with facial expressions, and even though the new skin improved the appearance of her expression there were still a few minor issues I had to "fiddle" with.
And that is that. Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to read!

Excatly the kind of images I ilke the best...non IA ! No warrior(ess)...just (what a word !) a great compo and a great render. PS : I didn't notice you were back.
RubyTuesday70
Hello Gaius, good to see you again! Haven't been back that long, just a couple of weeks. My muse finally decided to start cooperating with me again! Thank you so much for your kind words. As for AI..not really a big fan of it. I love looking at renders people make with Daz and Poser, I love looking at photography (and am a photographer myself) and paintings (even artwork that is done by hand with graphic tablets), but I am just not fond of AI.
It was really fun and challenging to make this and I will be doing more!

These classic pinups are great inspiration.
RubyTuesday70
Thank you! I will definitely be doing more of them, and maybe come up with an idea of my own in the process.

I'm watching the birdie, but somehow I feel like I am going to be over exposed !!!!
Excellent work on this. And, "Good Luck" in the contest !!!

Thank you very much Gary! I had so much fun with these that I decided there will be more of them. :D

I really like it too, for the green dress it would also have been necessary to change the texture of the dress under the belt which appears white. It is there to constrain the fabric so that it stays in place under the belt but you also have to texture this part if you change the textures provided yourself (very pretty by the way, this green texture). You find this part in the list of parts of the dress in the materila room.

Hello Tipol! So sorry I never replied to this but have been on hiatus from the 3D world again and only just realised I never responded. First of all thank you so much for looking and I am so glad you like it. I have a lot of your clothing and I just LOVE the outfits that you create for us Poser users. As for the belt, I feel really silly now... I somehow ended up thinking that was PART of the belt, like it was made of 2 layers and so I made the bottom the same as the cream trim on the shoes and the top green like the dress. Now I realise that part was meant to constrain the belt as you explained. Anyway will keep that in mind next time. By the way... I needed the dress to be green like the painting I used for inspiration, but LOVE the original texture so much that I just adjusted the color in photoshop (so not to lose the fabric's details). Again, thank you for taking the time to comment, hugs!

If I may ask, where did you get that vintage camera prop?
RubyTuesday70
So sorry for never replying to this, have not been very active on the site for a while. This prop is a very old one from RuntimeDna, actually has poses for M3 so it's that old. I redid all the textures with superly materials and ran the tent through the cloth room to get the draping effect (there were poses for the tent also included but they weren't what I needed). The funny thing is I somehow missed having this in my Daz/Poser collection and spent weeks looking for something like this before finally searching through my hard drive one last time and there it was, don't know how I missed it the first time.
BeverlyBrimstone
Hello and thank you for replying. Is this prop still available? I see there is a RuntimeDna store on Daz, but it has over 2500 items to look through.
Also, are the textures available?
RubyTuesday70
I'm afraid it isn't, at least I did a thorough search when I started working on this image and couldn't find anything similar here or elsewhere (at least not for Poser). I know that I got it back when RDNA's website was still online because I have the habit of adding the site I purchase from next to the name when I save the files to my hardrive.
As for the textures, I used various material sets that I have in my runtime (some that come with Poser, some I purchased and some I got in the freebie section)
