Description
"Another concern? Isn't some intruder that's locked you out of your own base functions concern enough?" Starbelle complained. "You had best tell me before we go up and confront whoever or whatever, Ship!"
The surrogate responded in the calm, feminine alto of Ship's voice. "I brought up some data on our course as it seems I am permitted access to astrogation data. As you can readily see, we are altering course. I don't think my thrusters are being used but we cannot assume I am able to sense my own function in light of the current situation."
Starbelle sighed. "You're right, of course. This IS a big concern. I'm frightened, Ship!"
"Fear is not an irrational response in the current situation, Starbelle. Shall we go to the bridge and confront the intruder and your fears?"
"I don't really see an alternative, Ship," the frightened girl replied.
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered using Superfly Cycles X in Poser 13.3.686. Some postwork was accomplished in Superfly and a tad more in Photoshop. The character of young Starbelle is based on La Femme. Ship's surrogate is based upon V4. The setting is by Vanishing Point. As usual, I found scripts by Ken1171_Design indispensible.
Nudity checked because of the very brief covering worn by the Cybernetic Surrogate of Ship which closely resembles a human female form. 😉

Hands are always a pain in the a-s, even with dedicated posing. So many bones that have to make sense when positioned. That pose mnust have been a nightmare. Be two cups of Joe for me...
Yes, Poser is right. Simple often conveys when intricacy and quantity cannot.

Thank you, JD. I've slowed down a lot in posting here and at DA so such encouragement is really precious to me. I find hands and arms the trickiest although trying to convey a sense of action in scenes where stuff is going on (running, fighting and the like) is awfully challenging, too. Languid, open-handed posing.... MUCH easier! XD

I kind of hope you continue this narrative a little longer just on principle. If I Mr. Spock this situation for a minute you have to figure this is either a first contact (or some kind of contact) scenario or an act of piracy or theft. If the unknown element that has taken control of this ship (but not the ships surrogate) had just intended to do the crew harm then they could have flown the ship and all souls aboard into a planetoid, or sun ... and they probably wouldn't want to actually be on the ship for that. I have to guess that the surrogate wasn't hacked because it either couldn't be or because the unknown element needed a conduit to communicate with the organic crew members. So I kind of want to know what the story is. So far you've just crafted on of those mid-season cliff hangers .... and I hate those =(

I'm actually working on the next two images.
Ship is the AI and the physical ship is part of it's "body" as is this and other surrogates. What the intruder has done might best be compared to a nerve block in a human being; Ship's mentation is intact and many of it's "body" functions are available but some are blocked from Ship's access (much as a nerve block in a human right shoulder results in paralysis of the right arm but has no effect on the left arm).
You're right that the entity probably means no harm (at least from its viewpoint) but that doesn't mean it won't be a problem for the human crew. =)
