I think it is safe to say that my fellow self-advocates and I share one common goal, and that is to make Kansas, and other places that surround it the most disability cognitive areas in the world. Moreover, this way of thinking brings to the forefront the need for more social programs and advocacy groups that continue to promote disability awareness.
It is in opinion, if you think about it we all are taught to advocate for what we want at a very young age, even a young infant cries out in the middle of the night, or daytime for what it wants and it’s up to its Mother to fulfill the baby’s needs. A person can use word of mouth to get his point across, or he can participate in writing letters for a certain advocacy group.
There are tons of ways that an individual with a disability can advocate for himself or other people. In “ A Couple “ I have used my illustration to bring forth an appreciation for the disabled community. It is my way of thinking that if you see us out there, the observer will start to gain an understanding of who, and what we are to the community that encompasses us all.
