Description
Much had changed in the last year, she was four years old now, I could barely believe it, I was watching her grow right before my eyes, noticing every little change within her but missing so many more all at the same time.
Mum did warn me to make the most of her being like this as she said "We lived on borrowed time" I remember not really getting what she meant at the time as everything just felt eternal, like she would always be this way, but she soon started changing, just as mum warned me that she would.
On the surface Lenola seemed no different, but little subtle changes started taking place, things that she used to love no longer enticed or tickled her imagination anymore. Thankfully though I still found ways to rekindle that strange fire that burned deep within her, setting free the wild dreams and inner courage that were now often hidden inside, she wasn't alone either as it helped reignite my own spark sometimes too.
I fully embraced what mum told me and would make the most of every single moment with her that I could and a little trip to conquer Oak Veneer mountain was enough to remind me of just how much I adored Lenola and just how deeply I loved the time that we shared together, as I watched her and Rowena navigate the lava fields of my bedroom floor, I took a brief moment just to remember what was and embrace what soon would be.
As I watched them I kept thinking about what mum had said, when something dawned on me, little did I know that mum wasn't only talking about Lenola but she was talking about me too.

Very moving message. Love the art piece, the depiction of imagination, navigating a floor of lava!

Thank you, it was a remake of a piece of a story from last year but I like to revisit old scenes, partly to test how far I have come but also to help me think about characters evolving and growing
