Description
Something had always annoyed me in the 3D world, in particular the world of female characters and in a way there is a strange irony to it for me, the thing that annoys me so, is the lack of diversity of shape and size in female characters, of course the irony being that Evelyn and Fae were both originally designed because of my frustration with exactly that scenario in the world of miniature figures for painting. Of course that frustration lead to me learning to 3D model characters and then through a strange series of events would lead me to discover that I am an author.
That situation still frustrates me, the thing is that I understand why the vast majority of female characters are generally perfect pin-up, sleek and slender kind of girls, after all I guess they are more saleable and if your business is to sell characters on mass, then it makes sense to sell a more desired or saleable iteration. But that doesn't make it right?
Last year I decided to start attempting to do something about that situation, modelling new characters designed to be different, with curves, blemishes and flaws etc, I guess to be more lifelike? Of course at the time I didn't know that in January of 2024 I would go on a 3 month rampage designing two new worlds, filled with new characters and stories to tell, so these characters got sidelined to focus on bringing those new worlds into being.
Every year since starting this 3D and written adventure in 2020 I have put out a story of some kind, last year of course I published the entirety of The Promise, my first attempt at a much shorter format book.
This year of course I have yet to do so, mainly because Life Downside Up finally was released and in the background I am now writing a further four books, all at the same time.
So mentally I don't have much mental space to start writing a story or at least not a story with the kind of depth that I tend to write.
Yet I still would like to do something? I have been working on some new characters in the background and most of them have been sidelined to allow me to actively weave tales of my four books, but that gave me an idea.
They always say that "An image speaks a thousand words" So why don't we see if that is true?
This situation gave me an idea for a different kind of story, a silent story, a story told purely with images and no direct narrative, the hope being that people can follow along and hopefully make sense of the story and maybe it makes this story a little more directly relevant to them.
The story will feature Carrie, a new character and will be told under the heading Carrie and the Tropical Shield.
If you are interested in seeing that, by all means let me know.

i, for one, am quite interested -- sign me up :))
really like this image, and i love seeing all your modeling efforts as well... lovely scene, and Carrie has definitely captured me in a similar way as Evelyn did...

Wonderful, she was one of four sidelined characters, that I left behind for a little while because the stories and their characters have to come first but now I have got a handle on my writing chaos I can delve back into them.
The basic concept behind her is kind of a bit like Fae, where she is a bit of an unsung and unseen hero kind of deal. Bear in mind Fae was designed so that if she is subjected to a body mass index test then she would more than likely be told that she is obese when there is actually nothing wrong with her.
Where Carrie, Roxy (Unseen here so far) and the character from "Photosynthesis" (unnamed at present) are quite intentionally designed to represent the larger and curvier women, a section that is an almost entirely unrepresented side of female characters, especially as lead characters, which is what I'm keen to tackle.
The final one of these four being Paisley, a small, petite and diminutive being but covered in scars and skin imperfections, she found a nice slot in Savena's story.
Carrie I hope will be a nice representation of a quite sweet if somewhat downtrodden being, the kinds of being I personally find quite endearing.

A silent story! That is a very creative and excellent idea. I hope you do go forward with that! Also, beautiful work and effort with making unique and more versatile characters.

Thank you, this is more me saying "I'm doing it" and working out where I will be showing it, so it will be happening though it might be a bit?? Sporadic in posting as writing four stories and promoting my first released book is quite time consuming (Though I realise that even writing a silent story is still effectively writing a fifth story)
In truth I hoped to explore it more (See answer to Giana above) and it is something that I have always been mindful of doing and doing well, but stories have to come first as those concepts once they become more can fleet rather quickly.

@ Peter_Pixy_Harrison Don't worry, I wasn't trying to rush you! Just would love to see it once it comes together. :)

Not in the slightest, I tend to set my own pace, just that is slightly more chaotic than normal, so it just slots around other things, but either way it will go ahead :)

@Peter_Pixy_Harrison Ah I see! Good to hear :)
