Description
This brave little one I discovered was the first of many. Once the volunteers came because of his discovery, it was discovered that their siblings were also coming out. I was told today (I discovered this little one yesterday, stayed by while the past volunteer helped this guy to the water and then I had to leave so she waited until the other volunteers arrived) that the volunteers were able to successfully help all the baby turtle siblings to the water safely! I was so happy to hear the good news today.

Nice photo. I had a turtle once along with one those plastic bowls they used to sell with them. He crawled up over the side of that bowl and then disappeared. Then one day maybe a year later, I came home from school and my mom said :Guess what?" She had been vacuuming the rug and that turtle came waltzing out of the closet. No one knows how he survived all that time. I don't think they sell those turtles anymore like they used to.

They do sell turtles still but not sure if they just have them in a bowl! Sounds like too much opportunity for escape to me!

Many volunteers come to "help" the baby turtles get to the ocean at South Padre Island when it is hatching time. A sight to behold.
