Description
I am the Dark One, – the Widower, – the Inconsolable,
The prince of Aquitaine with the abolished tower:
My only star is dead, – and my starry lute
Carries the black Sun of Melancholy.

Gorgeous image!

What a beautiful evocation of the poem. The light is wonderful; i partiucularly like the gleaming sparks of light rising as if the notes themselves embodied the lost star.
I'm honoured by such a generous dedication!

I built this image like a diptych, as if each of the characters were a sort of distanced reflection of the other. The poet, the troubadour; Orpheus perhaps? is the flame reviver. His complaint rises like the sparks of a wood fire that warms in the solitude of the night. In fact, it is a photo of fireflies that I integrated as a superimposition on the image; I liked this indefinable yellow-green luminosity that opposed the yellow-orange of the eclipse. Each firefly flies away like so many musical notes. The young woman, the beloved, the muse, the star is a quote from the entire body of your image, I also took up the role of the dress as a setting for the beauty of her body. This woman is dead in the poem, but I wanted her in an in-between, as if levitating in limbo, wondering like her poet what would become of their love. Finally, by choosing a real total eclipse of the sun as a background photo, I realized afterward that this halo visually associated with the young woman's body formed a question mark. Mourning leaves us, in fact, with many more questions than answers...
