I never get bored of this painting no matter how often i see it and its been the source of isnpiration of more than one of my own works. I am intrigued by the continuation of the story here; has the mischeivous plumber unleashed the torrent that now carries our hapless lady to her doom? Or will those bolt cutters come into play, severing the chain and sending her on an alotgether different path?
"Lying, robed in snowy white That loosely flew to left and right— The leaves upon her falling light— Thro' the noises of the night She floated down to Camelot: And as the boat-head wound along The willowy hills and fields among, They heard her singing her last song, The Lady of Shalott".

The tragic fate of the Lady of Shalott had not escaped me. More than her impossible love for Lancelot, it was the condition in which this woman had been locked up that had revolted me, condemned to not perceive the real world except through a mirror, to then represent it tirelessly in a tapestry. I have reconstructed here, a lugubrious, twilight image, so heavy in my eyes, that as soon as it was constructed I only wanted to make it disappear. This is the role of the plumber-woman: since men spend their time trying to tie us up, let us save ourselves between women. No more water leaks here, but a possible escape towards a happier future. The plumber is once again a balanced form, the woman in the fullness of her strength and beauty, if we remove the plumber, I imagined the rest of this image as becoming Ophelia, which will not happen…

I love this version, again really like the contrast with what is happening and the painting. Very moving and well done
