Description

General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark. It was one of the very few airplanes that could fly over long distances and at high speed just above the treetops. Apart from it, there were only the Tornado and the Su-24, which had a terrain-following radar that allowed them to operate automatically at high speed at extremely low altitudes. This was the only way to fly deep into enemy territory as unnoticed as possible. Such aircraft were very difficult to intercept, as guided missiles could only operate with difficulty against the ground and interceptors had little chance of stalking them at the same altitude to avoid ground clutter. Made with Unreal Engine 5.4. #jet, #fighter, #bomber, #f-111, #aardvark, #airforce, #unrealengine, #military, #river, #forest,

I totally missed this one! I think those animals won't be there for long. That's got to upset the local inhabitants for some time. One of my favorite aircraft. Very nice work.

A neat blast from the past. V. Fast shutter speed needed if that was going to be a photograph. Australia was maybe the last nation to fly them, we picked up the spare parts to keep them flying from mothballed units in the US. My children were raised cued by the roar to run to the veranda.... on Anzac Day and of course for Riverfire to open the Southern Hemisphere spring. An F111 orbiting town for a fuel tank 'dump-and-burn' was how to open a serious fireworks display. Alas there were safety issues during fuel tank maintenace- too often most nations take their service personnel for granted. A heads up then for ground crews everywhere.
