Description
This week a French prototype. Le Duc 0.22 was intended as an interceptor of an innovative concept. It was powered by a turbojet and a ram air engine. The turbojet was to bring the aircraft to a speed so that the ram air could work. Turbojet an ram air were in tandem. The Algerian war needed so much money that work on Le Duc 0.22 was suspended in 1958, after some flights. In one flight it reached over Mach 1.
Made with Unreal Engine 5.4 with no AI.

Excellent model and nostalgia. I like the cockpit visibility but I ponder the bailout options for the pilot. Then I imagine a pair mounted on an A380 for aerial launch. Zoom! Suborbital dogfights anyone?

Well, it was intended to carry two radio commanded AA.20 missiles. At that time there were no sophisticated air-to-air missiles. Mirage III won and it carried one R.511 under the fuselage in the beginning, but was a semi-radar homer.

Beautiful showcase for this exotic bird. I bet it took a lot of courage to climb into that thing for a first test flight. It looks mighty dangerous!!
