Description

In 52 B.C., Julius Caesar accepted the surrender of the Gallic leader VERCINGETORIX after the fall of the stronghold at Alesia, marking the end of Gallic resistance against Rome. Caesar grew rich from the sale of slaves taken during this siege, as did many of his army - there were that many taken. Vercingetorix would later be strangled to death, as was custom, following Caesar's Triumph several years later.
