Finally here is the whole image :) Thank you for all who joined this tiny time traveling :)
Today no quote but a little story :)
Why did I create this image? It actually started with "Star." I wanted to show her as a broken doll in a dollhouse on a dusty attic, in a creepy dusty attic. So, I looked for a dollhouse that fit my project, dressed (and undressed XD) Star, and placed her in the dollhouse. It somehow felt empty. So, I checked my freebie runtime, and lo and behold, I found tons of additional items. Of course, a few other characters couldn't be left out—they just fit perfectly into the image.
In the end, the image is an expression of my dusty runtimes. It was incredibly fun to browse through my freebie runtime—I felt like I was on a treasure hunt. Seriously, back in 2006 and 2007, I found some models strange, but today I think they’re absolutely brilliant, and I was so thrilled to have them in my runtime. So many little treasures, like the RDNA Gothic Christmas items or Cranksville (was that already Renderosity, or still RDNA?). Maybe someone out there remembers these old treasures and thinks, “Wow! I remember that too!” :)
This doll, for example, Scary Cherry the one where you can move the eyes—it’s from the RDNA Gothic Christmas collection. I even had a similar doll as a child. I didn’t like her very much; she was hard, but she still reminds me of my childhood (I prefered my doll I got from my grandma as I was 2 years old)… and in a way, also of my early days with Poser back in 2005. This project was like a little time journey—somewhat melancholic, maybe a bit sad (but that’s how some memories are in real life too), but above all, incredibly rich in memories of those treasure hunts back then, the friends I met, lost again, met anew, and the new items I discovered.
A little side story: In 2005, I signed up for a forum where I learned to work with Poser. Later, I became one of the Poser teachers, and my then “boss” became my best friend (even if we were apart of some kilometers) and, today, my partner. So, in the end, those dusty old stories really are the most beautiful ones. :)
I had a long break from Poser but my then "boss" brought it back to me and I am really happy to be here again. Many faces were gone, the place got quieter but you all make this place su incredible lovely :)
Thank you for being a part of my dusty life ^^

I loved RDNA! I worked for them as a tester before they shut down. They had some really cool stuff! I remember Cranksville and the gothic Christmas stuff. I will have to dig around and see if I still have that stuff. I never throw anything away, I am a bit of a hoarder. Anyways great image! Thank you for sharing your memories!

How cool is that? That must have been exciting. Yes, I know that feeling—I don’t throw anything out of my runtime either. Yeah, I was really feeling nostalgic with that image. :)

It’s so beautiful how our shared story grew out of those ‘dusty old stories’ into something so special.
As for the dust in your life – I’ll always be here to blow it away and make sure your life is filled with light and love. Thank you for bringing so much warmth and happiness into my world. I love you with all my heart. ❤️

such a sweet story - and image. i'm willing to bet that this old Attic model hasn't seen this much love in quite some time...
like you, and most other Poser users, the Runtimes run vast and deep. i started off here in 2001 with P4 and Posette...lol. RDNA was awesome, and i still have heaps collected from there as well. i also have stuff for V2 and V3 from 3DCommune and PoserPros, the latter being another favourite place... and of course, there were lots of little sites and personal pages where fun, strange and various freebies could be found, too. those really were the days [wistful sigh]

Thank you for sharing your story—it’s so lovely to hear about your Poser journey! It’s amazing how those old models and runtimes carry so many memories. RDNA and all those little sites really were something special. It’s wonderful to know others cherish those days too! I miss those sites :(

An excellent mood and atmosphere. You've nailed it on this one. I too like the old "legacy" stuff whether it's from Renderosity or DAZ. Found a lot of cool stuff at Content Paradise and Smith Micro as well.

Thank you for your kind comment :) oh yes... sometimes I wished the stuff would be available again I missed so many years through my Poser abstinence XD
