Ok, someone sent me an email requesting to know how I did the flowing water around the rocks. So I will answer it here so others can do the same. I made a terrain file, then went into top down view in the terrain editor and "drew" eddys and ripples in the flat terrain. Then I placed this terrain in concert with the rocks so that the eddys and flows matched the rock locations. This of course is after making the terrain very small. Roughly 10 feet wide (creek width) by 5 feet long. I then assigned the same water material I used for the creek but upped the flare and bumping so it would foam some what. I hope this helps.

Wow, this is stunning. I'm wondering what kind of machine you have to use 17.3 mill polys...mine would have stopped dead! Beautiful image, a lot of depth and detail. One tiny note; you might want to consider a good tree bark texture on trees that are close to the camera, like the one on the left. And thanks for the mini-tut!

Yes, thanks for the comments. My machine is a P4 2600 Mhz with 512 Ram. The trick I use is make big use of the layers. For example, there are 200 maple trees alone in this image. Once I place all my maple trees, I put them on a layer and hide them. I do these for each type of object that I have multiples of. As far as the textures go, yes I realize the textures are a tad, eh.. sad. But at the moment I am just learning Vue and haven't had the time to get "real" textures. This being only my 4th render with the program I want to focus on Vue's limitations and learn all the in's and outs of the program. Again, thanks for the comments and suggestions.

For only your 4th render this is amazing. What would it take to get you to make a tutorial on how you did the ripples in the stream. :-) You sure have an understanding of Vue and I will be watching for more of your work.
