BIO
Since 1993 the Dutch couple, Willem and Madeleine, have been working together in different fields of the arts and chose Hyperborea, as their professional name.
Being sculptors by trade, they have created a substantial collection of stone and bronze sculptures.
They've discovered the realm of computer graphics and this resulted in a large number of 3D renderings of alien landscapes inhabited with graceful life forms.
Most recently they have been working together on various projects in which they combine their sculptures, 3D artworks and original electronic ambient music into multi-media presentations.
Living in the south of The Netherlands, they have their own gallery and sculpture garden where visitors can experience their work.

A wonderful steer from your usual work. The spider is menacing and I love the symbolism of it grasping a whole planet.

sooo - it's automtically a living spider because ... why? Spiders and webs are synonymous. look closely at the hub - a webwork core over a sphere and radiating from that is ... legs or a web? Some look at a spider grasping the world. I see an intricate central web emanating far reaching connections to encompass a precious nugget. The artist didn't depart from any usual theme at all - it is all in the eye of the beholder from a personal point of view. That is part of the artists treasure; an ability to share their concept of beauty to an individual intrepretaton every time. Another's spider is as valid as my view of an all emcompassing scientific benefit. A world or a nugget? It's neither, and both. What do we as the viewers want it to be? thats what it is. If the artist had said "chicken soup" ... what would we see? As ever, thank you for another smile, another enjoyment and another day past. :-D

What a terrifying thought! Like the devil holding the world in thrall! And then again, maybe this is simply the spider's egg sac. She loves her children.
