Description

This is a revision of my picture "Sunny Canyon" where I have incorporated some of the given suggestions (sorry for the delay). I now understand why people normally do not make revisions of the same picture .. one change often have some undesired affect on some other part of the image. Well here it is :-) I changed grass distribution and coloring, added more bend of Strata, made bottom transition less evident and made strata visible only on steeper slopes, Added a few more texture layers to the rocks, disabled 3D on clouds, Changed coloring of water and wave size and changed the rendersize format. Minor postwork to fix errors and sharpen. Atmosphere has not been changed in this revision (because I wanted to keep the sunny look). But it would be fun to make a "Sundown Canyon" version also. Comments are welcome "Sunny Canyon" (version 1): GalleryThumb318465.jpg "Sunny Canyon" (current version): GalleryThumb332429.jpg

Looks majestic; I like this soft Strata on the plateau in the background, the PoV and the overall-surface mapping and...have I left out anything? Excellent job, Lars!!

Great pov, expansive, inviting terrain and the subdued, subtle surface and sky colouring fits perfectly. An excellent, well-crafted, undramatic (and the more realistic for it) image.

Yes, I prefer this one. The water is absolutly fantastic! It give a real feeling of altitude. I like also very much the distribution of strata. Xlt, once again ;-)

very good lars, you well improved the surface, but IMHO the grass has a bit too much red colour, but it also fits very well to this scene.and you improved very well the sharpness of the distribution. now to the atmosphere, i think the clouds could be so as in your first pic. all in all an excellent pic, because the points i mentioned to improve are all a matter of taste :)

Just visited this picture again and I'm still awed by its beauty and majesty. I rarely like strata but it is undeniably appropriate here. Xlars, hurry up and bring us more pics! I need more inspiration!

Thank you all very much for your comments and ratings:

1pearl: Glad you like it Doreen, so short and pricise in your comment :-)
LutzB: Your comment made me so happy. The surface is of course based on your overlay teachings, thanks master Lutz ;-)
arthez: he he .. yes you can call it big teamwork with all the suggestions I got on the last one :-) Thanks.
surfpig: Lovely and very pleasent analysis. Thanks!
christianfly: Thanks. I did try additional settning on the water (caps, ripples etc.) but ended up with only changing the wavesize and color. Glad you approve of it and about the bend to the strada.
ChadAustinWonderful comparison ("like an etching" you say). Thank you, and for your overwhelming words about my works :-)
Xabre: Thanks for your positive comment on the surface .. and the rest :-)
XR666: Thank you Chris for feedback! I tried different coloring of the grass to get it to look more dry, yes maybe it should have been a bit more yellow. Clouds seems to be a matter of taste also - but very good to have in mind for later pics :-)
eponce: Hi E, Glad you like this version better. Thank you for your vote :-)
Golog: Sound like you truely like it. Thank you very much. Yes, I can see now that the previous sky had more life. Thanks.
Dotthy: Even Excellent++ and a vote. Thank you so much for your words and rating Dorothea.
hillrunner: Thank you very much, that is very encurating to hear, both subjects took me some time :-)
Sking: Thank you for that comment on the crafting of this image :-)
SoundChaser: I am so pleased that you mention the realism, this is what I was striving for :-) I made a few layers yes, and then adding texture overlays using the SO pack plugin.
DrOGaN: Ah, thanks. Glad you think there is improvement from version 1.
ISSE: Very kind of you to say Ismael. Thanks.
ChiaAnge: Thank you so much for your most kind words on this picture and the personal comment. This made me very happy :-)
