Very nice. I like the detailing on the handguard. And the characters on the blade is a nice touch. Does it actually mean anything?

No, just some characters I came up with. I wanted to put some ancient Japanese characters but only could find good pictures of chinese ones.

hey man this is great job on the texturing and modelling i myself newb to max im trying to model swords arches and stuff but im having trouble with the texture and some little problem with the modelling anyway i loved ur work if u have any suggestion on a good tutorial i would appriciate it alot - keep up the good work man :)

Thanks. I didn't use any tutorials on sword modelling so I can't recommend any, but check out the tutorials section at 3dlinks.com, they've got tons of them. A good way to start though, would be to use some pictures or better yet photographs of swords, especially since you can extract textures from photgraphs.
