Description
Based from The Holy Grail.
I've been working on and off on this image for around six months now. I know it needs more work in places, yet its at 'that' stage...I'm scared to go much further because I don't want to make a wrong move and wreck it. Any suggestions GREATLY appreciated.
Windsor & Newton Watercolour on 400gsm linen.

Suggestion? Dear this looks as every inch as powerful as 1600 paintings when all was of a highly symbolic value. So post-raphaelite, so fantastic :) I can just stare and being humbly admired. :) Don't ask me suggestions, because I would never imagine how you can make this better :)

Ahh...first the Templar church in London and now this..good to see that my suspicions were confirmed ;) Interesting take on Poussin's work and the connection is definatly there. Good stuff.

Six months?! Oh man, I would never have the patience to keep an image waiting to be finished for that long. Start making more depth to the picture by adding more light and shadow effect. Keep the area around the skull brighter because it's the main focus already. Anyways, don't wreck it =)

I get that way at times too. Really start liking the way a painting looks but am afraid to touch it... I have tried hard to get away from that state of mind and really focus on finishing pieces as I start them... ha.. if I don't they'll never get done... and I guess that is why I have a painting that is only half way done sitting in my studio right now that I have been working on for over 3 years now :) It is a very large painting though.... that's what I tell myself :) Very nicely done painting... go for it and finish it... you'll never be satisfied until you do :)

Thank you so much everyone, especially Lumo :D The original is about 2 x 3 feet, so that's why its taken so long...but that's no excuse, I just posted another that has too many hours to calculate and is only half way there L

At first sight I thought it is perfect as it is, But I think lumo is right about enlarge the span between light and dark. Otherwise I can not think of anything to do it better than it already is.

Great image Cassie this really tells such a story, & wonderful craftsmanship too! I love the details, you may need to work on the lighting but this is worth every moment you put into it!

Omigod I think I just broke my jaw (it just fell to the floor)!!! This is phenomenal work Cassie, no kidding. Kudos again!

Hat off to you Cassie, this is fantastic! Just love your choice of colour here, I agree with Lumo it needs a little more depth but its still a great piece on my desktop straight away. :O )

I love this; so many little things to look at, and they're put together beautifully:D The details really bring it to life, and the skull is very well done, very lifelike. I especially like the area around the teeth. As for suggestions...wracks brain I'll jump on the depth bandwagon, but in respect to the window sill. It looks a little 'straight on' rather than extending outward, though that might just be an effect of reassembling it after scanning.

I feel that the right side needs something to help balance up the busy side of the left. There is so much packed into the left and centre of the image that it makes the right side seem quite empty in comparison, but as for what should go there I am at a loss. Were you planning on putting anything in/outside the window itself?

I too am in Arcadia when I see this type of work. I like anything having to do with esoteria.
