Description

Ok, I rerendered it using premium went from 3 minutes to 3+ hours.. But the quality is 1000x better. Again, no post, just straight up. *Summer's Last Breath* This was my first attempt at using Xfrog so be kind heh. I don't really have 100% control in that program so it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted. I need some suggestions, especially about the xfrog portion of the image. Thanks in advance. The model has 1.7 million polygons... Seems like even with 512 of ddr400 this stretches the limits of bryce... I wonder why bryce has such a big problem with high polycounts. *Comments and suggestions welcomed* Supposed to emulate seeds being blown off a dandelion in the fall.

I like it very much. The blurred effect really creates that sense of warmth that you feel at the end of summer that you seem to especially enjoy because you know it won't last. The dandelion looks very realistic. Nice work!

yes--I agree with vangogh--one question--is the background bryce also? Even if not--this is freakin awesome man. nothing less than excellent!

No, the background is not bryce but I used it for the lighting of the image. as you can see on the dandelion, it is yet another way to "fake" radiosity in a complex image, when using something like "true ambiance" is not an option. (4 day render compared to 3 hours...)

Just great, Ornlu. Looks like Xfrog can produce some very realistic organics and your lighting is excellent, as usual.

The Dandelion is absolutely perfect! Yes, you really do see it better in this render. Excellent art.

This is lovely; everything about it speaks of the end of summer. I'm not surprised the poly count was so high though - those are some beautifully intricate shapes. Well done.

I like the background and lighting, it just takes awhile to get the hang of Xfrog, prctice, practice, practice...

Ornlu, are you sure this isn't a photograph. This is such fine work and a beautiful picture all round. I am greatly impressed.

You're right. This is even better than the previous. I can see the details of the seeds, they're awesome.

Aye, it's pretty cool modeling Ornlu! But it's not the polygon count that is balking Bryce, rather the complexity of the model itself... Try doing a Brycean background, too!

Well, as I was going for realism Shadow, this is the only way I could really do it. Not that bryce's terrains aren't unbelievable. But.. They aren't realistic. (I know perhaps with TONS of tweaking etc they could be) but I tried it with and then like this, and I much prefered this version.

Pretty amazing render Ornlu! What with all your elaborate experiments, and ideas, and tinkering with new apps and such, I imagine you don't get much sleep!
