Description

*Summer's Last Breath* This was my first attempt at using Xfrog so be kind heh. I don't really have 100% control in that program so it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted. I need some suggestions, especially about the xfrog portion of the image. Thanks in advance. The render took 3 minutes and the model has 1.7 million polygons... Seems like even with 512 of ddr400 this stretches the limits of bryce... I wonder why bryce has such a big problem with high polycounts. *Comments and suggestions welcomed*

Looks great Robert. I'm currently working with some of the conerferious trees in Xfrog and have found that even the addition of one or two more in a scene adds at least an hour per tree. With a total poly count in excess if a billion for the scene :) So I know your pain out on the edge of Bryce. The payoff is very worth it though as is obvious in this render. Unfortunately when you pull an Xfrog creation that close to the camera, the poly reduction sliders or even XfrogTune can't be used that much because it becomes too obvious in detail loss, so switching into "patience of a buddhist monk" mode seems to be the only route. I really love this model though, the "fuzzies" look awsome floating out front like that and I think the model itself is fantastic as a whole and VERY organic. Great work with Xfroggie and I can't wait to see more.

Thanks. DryFly Coming from you, that's a huge compliment. I have been reworking the scene some since I posted it, got it a little better but still needs work, Loss of a lot of detail. I am going to do a premium render to get those fuzzies to actually show up. It's estimating 3 hours blah... Yeah, I haven't looked at the things that came with xfrog yet, I probably should. Maybe they'll help me learn how to control it better.
