Description

I made this from-scratch head over the last day or so. Just trying to sharpen up my modelling skills a bit and try some stuff out. I started with a lo-res two sphere metaball, which really did make a nice starting point for a head. The hair I made by duplicating part of the face, then doing a few hybernurbs divisions (to even up the grids), then a few regular divisions. Then I inner-extruded each poly then used the Matrix Extrude function to grow out the hair. I'm fairly happy with the hair *but* it's effectively un-editable - well actually more like unmanageable. There's like 150K polys in that image because the hair is just one big mess of polys. Heh I didn't even bother with a full head of hair after finishing the eyebrows and goatee- well I started to, but my first tests where yielding me 800K polys!! I need to go digging for that Hair Studio app... A fun little model. Any comments or suggestions?

If this is your first go at a head, it 'aint half bad, the line down the forehead... try welding the verts together, or scale (X direction) the lines of verts that are close together. The eye sockets (to me) seem a little too sharp. But overall its a very good start...The shape of the head is very good. Cheers.

Thanks, the line in the forhead was supposed to be a crease in the middle- but it's too long, and just looks like a glitch as you said.

Good looking first head and fun to see that you did use a unusual and new(at least to me) metod of making a head.
