Description

The effect of a rain-dappled lake surface was created entirely by tweaking the Roughness and Wave Size controls on the Water palette. Post work was done in Paint Shop Pro 7 where a mask was made to create the effect of falling rain - rather subtle and consequently not all that clearly visible in this compressed version. A rainbow was also added using a separate layer with a high transaprency setting.

Interesting. Tthe technique is quite original, and yields a good effect, I'd like to see a version with more resolution. The water work is also quite good. I believe that the only real is in the terrain and in the texture... they need some more work to make it look a bit more realistic. Also the clouds in the sky don't match the drizzle that's falling.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Ianfe: I agree about the terrain, especially the texture. I'm not sure I undrestand what you mean about the dirzzle and the clouds. Prutzworks: You spotted it! A little artistic license I'm afraid - it seemed the only aesthetically "correct" place to paint the rainbow and have the sun positioned, even if geophysically it's not accurate. Just sacrificing a little science in the name of art!
