Description

This image was generated from a satellite DEM of the actual location. Rather than give in to the temptation to add some unconvincing smoke and lava to make the picture more dramatic, I decided on this unnatural but symbolic colour scheme. The rock was made an ash grey colour with slight hints of reddish here and there to mimic the colour of volcanic ash. This colour was then reflected in the sky tones, turning the image almost monochrome, except for a low band of sunset red clouds, deliberately chosen to suggest the heat of a volcanic eruption. All Terragen, no post.
