Description

An attempt at imitating my favorite impressionists: Claude Monet, Vincent VanGogh, Pierre Renoir, John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, ... This was initially an experiment with sugar maples. Eventually it turned into my first attempt at creating a "painting" effect, also my first time using Painter. Flowers from the web (sorry I forgot where I got them), The boat was modelled in Bryce by a brilliant artist named J

this is awesome, it really does resemble the paintings of monet and renoir, for some reason to me it reminds me of that painting that monet did of the japanese gardens :), the one where he did over and over as he got blind. anyway the scene is fantastic as is all your work. excellent job.

What a beautiful effect, Alvin! You seem to do good every subject you choose to depict! Beautiful colors and overall painted feeling. I like the way you put different strokes in different sections of the image, thus avoiding completely the "filter-applied" feeling. The work on the foreground flowers is absolutely top-level. All my thumbs up -- (I've only two of them, but ok, you got the meaning...)
