Description

*There's no other place in the world, which I would die for. No other one, which makes me cry for emotion, the way I do here. I owe to my town, all the sense of respect for beuaty, people and culture I have. All my inspirations, blossomed from the treasure of living in this corner of paradise. I tried to find a poem , among millions written by so many writers about my town, that could express what I feel when I immerse myself in the sight of Florence. But I couldn't find any,not even from my beloved Dante that could express the immense joy of my heart when from Piazzale Michelangelo I see this sight I have painted. Forever grateful, that I can call Florence "My Home". Wherever I'll live and go, this will always be the only place I would love to rest at. Until and after the end of my days. Come here one day, all of you. And I hope, that you will then understand me in full.* Meli ------------ 2 Months of work. Oil and tempera on thick technical paper. Size 40 per 30, reduced by the scanning. Enjoy :) ---------

Meli: now I don't want to hear any more waffle from you about you not being an artist, when time and again (and never more so than now) your pictures prove your words wrong. When I think of some of the people here who are not artists and never will be, your work stands head and shoulders above. My god, even our adored Cassie told me she considers you a total artist, and that SHE has learned from YOU. Forget the criteria of elitism, yes art is about that but not only that. When you can paint something as beautiful and considered as this, filling it with your evident love and passion for your home city, translating this adoration into every stroke, in your heart you are an artist even if you may never allow yourself to recognise it.
That's my final word darling... and I'm sure you'll be protesting your case to me but from now on I just ain't gonna listen girl... you've just proved yourself once too often kisses :-)

The red-green contrast, the contrast between dark, nearly black parts and the strong light in the sky, contrast between pale and strong colours, contrast between near and far - all this is a fantastic composition. This time I like the coloured version much more than the sketch (although I already liked the sketch very much :-) !

The sun has just broken through a cloud! Good work gallimel. I think I like the loose area on the left hand side of the bridge best. It would be good to see this one in real life

Is there a word for "more beautiful than beautiful"? because if there is, it would still be an understatement!! This is the most incredible work of ART I have ever had the privledge to witness at renderosity!!! I cannot find the words to express how incredible this painting is!! This painting transends mere paint and canvas to a level above and beyond art!! WOW! This truly breathtaking!! Excellent x 10!!

I must thank you all.And.. for how much I sense yours and everyone here above sincerity about considering me something like an artist Jim, no.. I won't eevr feel myself so. I am sorry :) But I am infinitely happy, that at least here, I have fully translated the love I have for my home. If you all can see, if you all can feel this, then, although being no artist I will agree (just this time) that I made something which can be called art. A miracle, that again my town operated through my love for it. But it is not my merit ;) still :) Thank you.. everyone :) It means so much for me :)

Oh! I am crying too - for the light and the love. Is it really thus? That your heart would flower and then burst from the joy of it? Ha! Now you have made me homesick for a place I've never seen. (thank you)

I remember when I was in Florence (only for one day) and I left the town I saw all the beautiful hills surrounding it in the soft light of sunset and I thought that one should go there and have a wonderful view over the town, but I had to drive "home" some 250 kilometres. All I had was the view from the "hill" in the garden behind Palazzo Pitti (beautiful also, but not as spectacular as this one here). And to this painting itself: I have not seen many images today at Renderosity but I think I can stop surfing for today, something more beautiful I surely wont find. So much class, temperament and expression - just perfect

Your work dose reflect everybit of your love for your city. It dose deserve such. I am from America and like a dream come true I was able to visit Italy and Florance. Someday, with my deeply seeded love for art and the history of art I will return. That is what it all comes down to really is art. An as an art lover, I do say I love this painting!!
