Description

*There's no other place in the world, which I would die for. No other one, which makes me cry for emotion, the way I do here. I owe to my town, all the sense of respect for beuaty, people and culture I have. All my inspirations, blossomed from the treasure of living in this corner of paradise. I tried to find a poem , among millions written by so many writers about my town, that could express what I feel when I immerse myself in the sight of Florence. But I couldn't find any,not even from my beloved Dante that could express the immense joy of my heart when from Piazzale Michelangelo I see this sight I have painted. Forever grateful, that I can call Florence "My Home". Wherever I'll live and go, this will always be the only place I would love to rest at. Until and after the end of my days. Come here one day, all of you. And I hope, that you will then understand me in full.* Meli ------------ 2 Months of work. Oil and tempera on thick technical paper. Size 40 per 30, reduced by the scanning. Enjoy :) ---------

With all these inspiring words, you hardly need mine, however, I know how long and hard you have been working on this. The finished masterpiece.. is just that.. a MASTERPIECE! Worthy of any art museum around. I love how it turned out girl, and you should be immensely proud of it!

An extremly breathtaking painting! My great-grandparents were from Florence, though I never met them, I believe you have given me a vision of how life must have been for them. Beautiful work and beautiful city!

Lovely picture, you must be very pleased with it. I'll be in Florence in May this year. We're camping in Grosseto on the west coast, but plan to spend at least a couple of days in Florence (can't wait). Any tips on where to go and what to see?

I cannot decide which is more beautiful, your words, or your image - and as I sit pondering, looking again, and re-reading. I realize that the in ways intangible the words and image are linked. And the bond that joins them is invisible and invincible so that the two, the words and the image, are not separate but part of a greater whole. What they form together is but a shadow - a representation of something much larger - and though I am stunned by the beauty of your image and your words - I am stunned more by the realization that they are only expressions of a much larger beauty that is uniquely your own. A special pride, joy, patriotism(?), and passion which is yours and is part of why we marvel at you and at your art. I will from now on never once hear of florence without appreciating it more because of your words and all of your art. I will from now on never see or think of florence without a thought of you. Thanks for blessing us with this glimpse inside your soul - though we see through a mirror darkly, yet what we see is lovely. Blessings.
