I've been attempting to make photo-realistic shadows and textures in Bryce for quite a while. I ended up finishing this last night and I think it ended up pretty close to what I was attempting to accomplish. I'm really happy how it turned out so I thought I'd share.
** Technical Notes **
Premium Render with Radiosity Lighting. 32 additional key lights used. 4.8 Trillion Ray Hits rendered. Total Render time was 2 hours and 02 minutes. Can't remember what the actual final poly count was, needless to say it was too high :)
Mountains sculped by me. I used one of the Default mountain settings and whent editing crazy. Mats and textures also by me but edited from some images I got from Absolute Background Textures Archive. Http://www.grsites.com/textures/
Created and rendered in Bryce 5.0.
Some obvious post work in Adobe Photoshop 7.0
I hope you like it. Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

Astonishingly photo-realistic! Top-rank textures and lighting in this one! It's like being in the Himalayas.

I am bit by bit coming to understand Bryce. How do you do the shadows in the light? I have several images that could be greatly improved by this. Help!

This reminds me of the mountains in Austria near Innsbrook. Bravo, well done.
