Description

Inspired by hours of watching the Lord Of The Rings special edition DVD, especially the techniques for making the minature sets and statues, this my attempt at creating an ancient temple environment. Based loosely on the Weather Top set, I have tried to create the same look of a worn and weathered structure by using a combination of high resolution modelling and texturing. The blue colored images are of the untextured model rendered with a radiosity plugin (Brazil). The rest of the images were rendered with a fully texture model using the standard 3D Studio Max scanline renderer. Baring any technical difficulties, this model should be available in the market place within a couple of weeks.

I just heard back from my Poser tester and he came back with a long list of changes that need to be done for the model to work in Poser. None of the changes look difficult (just time consuming) so I should be able to have a Poser ready version available in market place as well.

what magical atmosphere & mood your models will help create... i am really liking the textures i'm seeing as they strike me as having quite a bit of versatility ranging from images that might be sketched/drawn looking, to a place of ancient history, to even allowing for a touch of the sci-fi feel... will the models be sold in 3DS format, or will you be converting them to a standard format for Poser specifically? if the latter, will they be figures or props? and will the package come with more than one set of textures? so many questions, hey? but i'm truly struck by the craftsmanship i'm seeing... thanks!!

I came to this image via the saleable item, and I just have to say that I am blown away with the quality and craftsmanship in this!! - absolutely awesome work man!! - I am off to buy it now, and even if I don't get a chance to use it for a while, I am just going to get it out and look at it now and again!

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. Giana - We are getting close on making a Poser version available. It will basically just be a set of Poser prop pieces (around 20 objects) with one set of textures. The textures are at a high resolution (12MB worth) so I can only include one set. One nice feature about the model is that I have mapped everything on the flat. I don't want to get too technical but the texture mapping is done similarly to what you would get with a procedural texture with virtually very little distortion. You will be able to easily alter them with your own stone/concrete textures.

Wow! one day I'd love to integrate such 3DSMax models in Mojoworld landscapes as V3 seems fantastic. Do you sometime look at the Mojo gallery? You'd love the app I am sure :-) V
