Description

My first try ever with Colored Pencils instead of lead and graphite. The paper is actually a medium brown shade of Artgrain. The medium brown with the colors looks great on the original, but as we all know only too well, not everything translates as well when scanned into the computer. I lightened it to upload so the drawing would be easier to see. I also used Prismacolor Verithin Colored Pencils, along with Col-erase Colored Pencils. I ran it through PSP8 for the Frame, the Rose and Heart, and the soft focus effect. I would love any constructive criticism, especially now since I am just beginning in this new (for me) medium. Thanks for looking...Cheryl

Cheryl - I think I could just jump up and down out of pure excitement. This is proof positive that it is just as I've been saying all along - how you always look eagerly forward to advancing your abilities and honing your skills - all the while - ascending higher and higher on the path of learning. While much can be said for B&W imagery, there's an entire magical world of wonderment in the land of color. Once you truly get your feet soaked in this medium, it will be much like trying to watch your favorite new films on a B&W T.V. and feel satisfied. This - for your first entry into working color with pencils is absolutely gorgeous. You've brought Fogelberg to live in his trademark smile and that special twinkle in his eyes - bravo my dear friend - and a definite vote for your brave foray into a new realm.

Cheryl, Excellent job, I respect anyone who can work in colord pencils as it's not a easy medium. You captured the very essence of his character....Wonderful! John

You found a lot of life to portray. The values just melt away as the modelling reminds me of the genius in the character.

Hey its really good, the facial features are looking very tuned on this one! And yes Scanning is a tricky thing to make translate as you wish it to.
