Description
This watercolor is a painting of a Red Admiral Butterfly I copied from a picture in the May 2003 edition of PCPhoto Magazine. The photograph is of a "Red Admiral Butterfly in and Autumn Beech Forest", and it is from an artical entitled "Focus With Color", by Niall Benvie who is also the photographer. Since I can't follow instructions too well, ect., I decided to try and paint this instead with my watercolor(s). Thank You All for looking, and as always....Love & Peace, and have fun :-)

Y thank U ladies for such kind comments. I appreciate it very much, coming from such cute and sweet "Amazin Babes" as U2 fine looking girlfriends. I shall take your advise Tani, and keep practicing because You asked me to, and always an honor to have Your comments under my works, because You are very cool like me :-) (gallimel, You are cool too, but You already knew this.)

I am Cool too....and I like the Butterfly :)
Odious
Well I'm not a babe and I have never really claimed to be cool.. but I can say that this is a nice piece... :) it lacks a bit in color which to me seems a bit dull... the composition is very nice and the eye flows very nicely.. maybe some darker more contrasting colors for the leaves would have helped this piece... well that's my citique... :)

Thank You Tedz and Odious. Tedz, You are always most Cool, and thanks for kind words as always. Odious, although You are not a babe, I believe You are cool too, and You are cool. Especially for offering me your critique. I appreciate it, and shall take heed of your advise. I agree with you, it is a bit "dull", and I was trying to duplicate a computer-altered, and somewhat "dull" photograph to begin with. Actually, that photograph was a bit duller than this if you can believe it. Most of it was greyed out because a black and white mask was put over the original and only a few leaves surrounding the Butterfly and the Butterfly itself were exposed. Rest was greyscale. The Butterfly is pretty accurate in color though. It is black, orange/red, and white. But mine is not quite as cool as the original. Thanks again all for comments, and your time in review of this Butterfly watercolor. :-)

it's ok- i know i'm cool & babe too- ;] lol- just clicked to take a closer look- i like the washes of color & bold lines- i find watercolor difficult to work with cuz you can see every stroke, very unforgiving, so each stroke needs to be diliberate & free- i think you did very well here! a fine study!
