Description
Another sketch in the series
of elderly people around the
World. She has a great smile,
doesn't she! That smile is what
drew me to doing this sketch.
It's quite obvious that she is
a fighter no matter what befalls
and she has learned how to smile
through it all.
I used Prismacolor Studio, Verithin,
and Col-erace Colored Pencils. The
frame, matting, flowers, and soft
focus postwork were all done through PSP8.
Thanks for looking...and have a great
day...smile your way through it...Cheryl

The body is on the path of decline yet still rising as the end approaches. The face turns to catch the smile of grace.

This wonderful series surely makes one think. All of these six individuals throughout this collection of yours have faced the very unpleasant and inevitable truth of aging with dignity and acceptance - and I've noticed that all are of European extraction - and that is one of the reasons they take an entirely different view of advancing years than do their North American counterparts. The latter spend most of their time, money and energy trying to defeat wrinkles, graying, and aging, rather than spending their time wisely and accepting what must be with courage, wisdom and dignity. There are a minority of the North American peoples who of course do accept the encroachment of the golden years with grace and a positive spirit. These drawings of yours Cheryl - because they are done with the heart - now affect the viewer's heart, and how I pray we all accept the final part of our tenure on this earth with the smile of this beautiful Tibetan woman. Thank-you Cheryl for being who you are and never never change unless you embrace yet more wisdom of heart.

I have always been impressed by your dedication to create, but now you are amazing me again, attacking more media, complex imagery, you are a true artist in the sense of the word, living to create, creating to live. I know I say this all the time, but you are my true inspiration. Thank you.

Cheryl these works continue to show off your artistic talents and as I have found the use of more than one or two mediums and the technology we have available is what artists have done throughout time! Mixing them so well is where the true artistic soul lies! :-)
