Description
I just love working on sketches
where the people have such great
character in their poses and their
faces. This lady has lived through
many experiences and conveys her
life experience every day in the
lines of her face and in the
way she embraces her burden.
The sketch was done with
Prismacolor Studio, Verithin
and Col-erace Color Pencils.
Postwork was accomplished through
PSP8 and includes: soft focus, angel,
frame, the matting - I added color
to the mat, along with
a dissolve filter to produce
the desired effect.
Thank you for taking the time to
look. As always, I welcome your
hints and tips.
Have a great day!...Cheryl

Mountain people live a long time which may be why anti-oxidants and Vitamin E became a rage. Certainly a classic portrayal of the dignity of age. You've chosen a setting that makes her look at home in a constructed place.

Not only are these images of older people a wonderful tribute Cheryl, your exploration into color is coming along just excellently. If you're working with the regular brand of Prismacolor pencils, (the ones that have large color sticks inside as opposed to the narrow pencil-look) you can try your hand at blending with the use of a tiny bit of turpentine and dry brush. This ONLY if you're working on sturdy art board though, as it will ruin papers. The turps used must be very little. Even if you don't elect to try that technique, there are also gray paper blending sticks that will give you some blending abilities. I wish to point out though that these images of yours are most excellent the way they are - and blending isn't a necessity. I also love the matte and framing of this one Cheryl - it just sets off the drawing perfectly. Bravo my dear friend - you just keep excelling with every new post. A big vote from me!

My good friend, you amaze me. You never sit on your last image, always striking out to new mediums, more complex imagery. always, always, doing a great job in the mix. You are the driving force behind so many people, to match your love for art, enthusiasm and your dedication. I hope that I wish I had 10 percent of your drive and dedication. It is a joy to behold.
