Description
As I stood there,
holding the canvas wide for her enormous frame to pass,
tree trunk feet a mere whisker from mine,
she turned away from the light and looked into my eyes.
It may have been a sparkle of grease-paint,
but I'm sure it was a tear.
Her sail ear brushed my cheek,
and she was gone into the ring of cheers and lights,
Leaving a hole in my heart.
Rest in Peace at last.

Tanya died yesterday after only a year of freedom. It has been seventeen years since I saw her turn into the light, I'm glad that she finally made it.
