Description

This image was developed using a technique that the great alvinylaya taught me how to do. It is a scene of a somewhat darkened alley of two buildings, one of which was destroyed during war more than 50 years prior, but left standing because it was largely forgotten by the departed public. The walls themselves are simply bump maps from a brick/concrete image I created from scratch in Photoshop. The light poles are a lattice I did in Photoshop, using a texture that was created by AgentSmith. The lamps themselves were created 50/50 terrains and booleans. The wood texture on the doors was one I found on Mayang. There was minimal postwork involved besides some subtle lighting and jpeg compression, of which was done in Photoshop. Thanks again to Alvin for teaching me this technique! I hope you enjoy the image, please feel free to comment/rate/vote as you wish! :) Kind Regards, Ian "MadDog31"

This is fantastic Ian! It'd be cool to do the same scene at night ;) I bet you'd get some awesome textures then with a soft glow from the street lamps or moonlight. This is great though, I'll have to ask you about the tut when I get more than a few minutes online :)

Excellent job. If it weren't for Alvin we would all be scribbling on construction paper with crayons.

This is wonderful! I'm so jealous, I'd love to know how to make the stonework come out the way it does in those archways. And I love the atmosphere of this render as well, it feels so desolate.
