Description

*Life is like playing a violin in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.* Butler ----------------------- 2 Layers: Background purely Painted in Photoshop, Main figure worked out from this starting sketch I made. 1 hour of total work, excluded the time for makin the sketch. ------------------------ Thanx to bevchiron and gres2000 for their inputs on this one.. Actually, I still not convinced at all of the negative space here, but I liked the final effect of watercolours I reached (inspired by lumo and syndroid's awesome works) so, as Cam said all trials will nevertheless be part of the theme, I let the title "June Theme". I hope that with the incomin "Bride of Night" the Negative Space will result better than here, but I hope you enjoy nevertheless. I actually painted a Sunset more than a day.. because the thoughtful expression of the bride looked like something melancholic.. like an ending exactly.. "of herself". Have all a great weekend. I have new furnitures to check in a new shared house ;)

I agree with Zargent but seeing what Meli can do when she wants to represent somthing, I just want to say that art is not when it looks like something but when it feels like something...

Wonderful ork Meli! It's interesting how the vivid luminescent colors bring such a change from the original sketch. I think that the forehead being too long, as expressed in the earlier comment, is really not so. If one looks at the original sketch it is the same, but I feel as though the color just accentuates it which is appropriate for the theme. You really know how to make color come alive...Cheryl

You've done it again angel girl! HUGS This image is SO interesting because it seems to, for me anyhow, delve into negative space within the busiest part of the image, Bev's, wonderfully suggested, blue. Its placement in the centre of the image, balenced by the figure, seems to magnetise the eye to the very center, where the busy negative space draws one deeply into another dimension. You know Art like no other I know angel girl, keep up the spectacular work, and as always, thanks for sharing :D HUGS

Oh, this is a delight to me! And, when I look, she doesn't feel torn, she feels to be in a melancholic reverie of some golden day in the past....when life was simpler and more peaceful for her.

Very interesting idea and execution. You integrated the drawing with the Photoshop effect very well. The final art took on a life of its own quite different from the pencil, which I like as well. Great post for the June theme.

For once quite late but with a good excuse as I have been somewhere watching something very great as you know ;) I really like looking at this piece. Is it the glowing at the bottom? Is it the haunting look in her face? Is it the fragility of her pose? Or is it just the overall mood? It's all I guess :) Wonderful! -- 'Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse, that sends me down to the river, though I know the river is dry?' --
