Description
When Robert was 5, he always fancied playing with his marbles in the kitchen while his mother made up his lunch. This was all well and good untill she - and she always did - ended up slipping on the marbles. She'd get up and tell Robert that one day she'd take them for good if he kept leaving them all over...Sure enough the next morning she walked into the kitchen to find his marbles all over the place; so she scooped them up and placed them ontop of the refrigerator...13 years later, the marbles have gathered some dust, and watched the house age around them. Robert is going off to college, but he always wondered where his marbles went...
Well, this was just a little more experimentation with the DTE and alpha maps based on altitude (object space). The dust effect was created by duplicating the spheres and making them slightly larger. Then applying the mud material (scaled way way down) with a second bitmap made in photoshop for transparency. This was mapped onto the secondary spheres to create a dusty top look.

An amazing result. The dusty coat is delicate as it would be in real life.
