Description

Well, I keep coming back to this, hopefully getting better. But I really like HDRI renders so I decided to do some more =P... The second one down uses agent smith's metal tut. The others are experiments in the DTE, the base textures for some are from a maxon subsite. I got the look in the glass materials by using two spheres, the top one being a glass material of that color and the inner being a metalic /fuzzy material. These scenes were rendered in 1-2.5 hours at effect aa, depending on how many lights I used. In the images I placed omni/spot lights in key areas to creat 'hotspots' on the image. These, when used with true ambiance, produce a very realistic lighting effect. The main light is bounced off the image and back onto the spheres / ground plane. in the kitchen scene I used square spotlights on the window area with extremely high brightness to simulate an over exposed look. The DOF was done in photoshop using tweaked distance renders.

very cool. I have just returned from a 3 week trip and your image was a wonderful homecoming present! I like the last version the best. It seems that hdr maps with distinct square walls produce the best reflective effects. For example this animation i did a while ago...http://www.renderring.com/hdri/bloblinks.html

Great stuff. It's great having someone explain how they accomplish what they are able to do. Your "experiments" are a pleasure--both to look and and to learn something from! Bravo!
