Description
The Story - "The Point Pleasant class U.S.S. Blalock detected an unusual reflection source. When they arrived, they saw an alien artifact one kilometre high. It was made of some form of crystal they have never seen before. But the primary question remains, what is it? Is it a memorial? Is it a probe? Or is it a life form? To answer that question is why we go out there."
The Picture - I thought about the shape of the artifact the night before, how it looks on AutoCAD. I played around with the reflection, bitmaps and transparency to give it a more surreal look. The Starfield was made with both AutoCAD 2002 and MGI Photosuite SE. The Point Pleasant Class starship was made with AutoCAD 2002. And yes it is from the Star Trek universe.

love it :) the only small note are the size of the stars.. They look all prettuy much equals.. try to chnage their luminoisty and dimension and this image will be even better :)It's already very nice though :)
RETIRED
Exceptionally nice. Reminds me of a pulp magazine story a few decades ago (ouch) where us human heros discovered fragments of an exploded star - the theory being that the gravity had compressed the star core into crystal - then the star exploded and sent out huge shards of crystals harder than diamonds, which coincidentially had supurb light transmission qualities. I guess you can guess where the story went - Super lasers and FTL drives etc. Just thought I would mention. You did so well that I for one would love to see you carry the artifact/crystal story further. Best Wishes. Dwayne.

being a total star trek fan i love this, it stirs my imagination and love for space and sci-fi. the ship is incredible and the artifact presents an ominous mystery :)

As to Mr. RETIRED suggestion, I will try to continue with the story of the mysterious artifact, hopefully without any more smoke coming out of my ears, he he. And here is the hard part, trying not to parallel too much on already told sci-fi stories like 2001.
