Part Four - The Doctor, Officers Andrea Blaine and Bill Plamer, have arrived at the house of a recently missing native indian woman. The small British Columbian town is being terrorized by an unknown threat that seems to be abducting people and killing them. Andrea no believing the Doctor isn't the man their looking for, both take notice of the various marks and blood stains found at the scene of the crime. But as the Timelord thinks about this, an old native man is staring at him from across the yard. Sitting in a chair and calling the Doctor " The Demon of Time " quitely to himself. The Doctor, looking at the man with intense curiousity, calls over the young native teen called Ed. " Tell me Ed, who is that man sitting there? " Ed looks over, " Oh him, yah thats Tom Crowhead. He's kinda the old wise elder of our folk here. " " Really...", the Doctor says. " ....I'd very much like to meet him if you don't mind Ed. " Ed shugs his shoulders, " Eh, sure guy.....then the best thing to do....is walk over and introduce yourself.....thats what my Grandma'r said was the best way to meet someone. " The Doctor gives a slight coy eye to Ed as he gives off that useless bit of info to him. He starts to walk over to the wrinkled smoking indian, and starts to put on the Doctor charm machine again. " Hello there sir! I was wondering if I could talk with you? That is if you don't mind me asking? " The old man stops sucking on his pipe and begins to chat with the man, " I don't know what I can tell you, not sure what it is you think I know. " The rather smug answer from the old man makes him ponder about that wrinkled smiling face. The Doctor smiling back at Tom Crowhead, " Well I would think as the leader of you community, you would have some insight as to what has been happening around here in past week or so. Has no one mentioned odd things happening to you? What about those reports of some of your people wandering around town in confusion? " Crowhead just starts smoking his pipe again, holding it tightly between his teeth as he gives the funny dressed man an answer. " You ask alot of things, but what I have to say isn't what you need to hear. There a certain problems that many must deal with. " The old man rises out of his chair and glares into the Timelord's eyes, " I've seen those eyes before. You're a man that lived a long time, I see so much regret in them, so much wisdom, and yet a demon lurks behind them. You better becareful demon, there are some things that are never forgotten by the ones you betray." Tom leans down and grabs his hand carved walking stick, the stick looks old and adorned with many native symols. On the top of the cane a beautifully carved out crow's head sticks out, with two black polished eyes on either side of it. The old man starts to walk away slowly making his way out of the yard, a few of the other natives start to walk out with him. They're dead pan faces looking at the Doctor and his two associates as well, but then start to look away as they walk with the slow moving Crowhead chief. The Doctor still standing in the spot where the old man left him, gazes at the group leaving and then turns his head to Andrea who walks up beside him. " Interesting converstation.........Strange......But interesting ", the Doctor says raising his eyebrows in comedic form. Andrea snickers a bit, " I've never heard him talk to anyone before. Usually he just sits there and stares at you rather than giving a word back. I find him abit creepy really. " The Doctor rests his arm on her shoulders, " Oh don't be silly, he's harmless. No I think there is something more happening here then we're lead to believe. " Andrea shocked by his answer, looks up at him as he stares off into the distance with a rather smug look. " You think they're hiding something?" " I'm not sure. But I could swear they think I'm some sort of evil thats come for them or something. " After the Doctor states the fact, he pats Andrea on the back and turns back to the crime scene. Andrea shakes her head in disbelief and walks over with him. The Doctor asks her for a knife, she gives it to him and he leans down to scoop up a sample of the blood on the ground. The Sheriff walks over and hands him a clear sample bag to put it into. " Now then...", the Doctor says after closing it up and handing it to Andrea, " lets have a good look at this and see what we can find shall we? " The Sheriff laughs, " You've got to be kidding. Thats not going to tell you anything, besides we're not some big city crime unit you know. Hell, we don't even have a lab to take it too anyway. No, no...thats got to be processed and shipped to Victoria for forensics. " The Doctor seems irritated by his statement, " What? Oh come on now, surely you have a microscope or some sort of small lab we can look at this in? Even in a small town like this there must be one in the hospital at least? " Andrea enters in the conversation, feeling frustrated at her partner's answer as well," Come on Bill, thats going to take weeks! The hospital may be small but it does have a lab we can use. We need all the help we can get, and if this guy really is a doctor then I say let him do his thing. I want to find this wacko before he strikes again." ***** On the other side of town, young Ed is driving down the road just near the town's border in his beat up old chevy red truck. But as he sits there listening to his favorite radio tune and singing along to it, he spots a figure walking along the side the road. As stops singing and turns down the volume, he realizes that its his grandmother as he begins to slow down. He parks up further and starts running down to meet her. Screaming her name, he draws in closer, he notices shes all wet and muttering something incoherant. Her skin is pale and her eyes are fluttering and rolling back. She almost seems dazed and walking in a rigid manner. Ed Shakes her to wake her from the stooper, " Grandma!! Grandma!! " Not making any sence in her chatter, he grabs her and puts her in the truck. Turning around he drives into town directly for the hospital. Meanwhlie in the hosptial, the Doctor, Andrea and Palmer all file into the small lab the young asian doctor leads them into. Andrea puts her hand on the young doctor's shoulder, " Thanks Chen, I think we need to solve this one faster then we think." Chen nods to her, " Hey no sweat, gives me a chance to finally use this place anyhow. Anything you guys need..." He looks at the Doctor, " So you're a doctor too? Well, no wonder your bedside manner was lousy, doctors make the worst patient. " The Doctor looks back at him with a disapproving face based on that remark. They all walk over to the table the mircoscope is sitting and the Chen pulls up a chair. Andrea takes the sample out and gives it to doctor chen to look at. The Doctor hovers over him as the young man places the blood on a small dish and places it under the scope. Just then a voice can be heard screaming out side the lab, its young Ed holding his Grandmother and yelling for help. Chen goes running out, as to they all, and he quickly brings over a gurney for the ill grandmother. They all help laying her down as she continues to rant on and sweat in a delirium. The Doctor asks Ed as he sees him looking worried, " Where did you find her?" Ed very shakened, " I found her outside of town, she was walking along side when I came down the road. Man I hope she's ok...oh man....oh geez " Andrea tries to calm him, " Its ok Ed, calm down......we're gonna take care of her. " They bring her over to the Emergancy room and doctor chen starts to hook up all the monitors and I.V. to her. Grandmother RedFeather still rants on and on, her words become louder and louder. The Doctor stands at the foot of the bed with Ed, he wonders what she's saying as she starts speaking in a language he can't make out, he looks to the young native for answers. " Ed help us out here, what's she saying..." Ed strains to listen and shakes his head, " I....I don't know, shes not making any sence man! I've never heard of that......." Suddenly Redfeather eyes become focused on the Doctor standing there, her face becomes furious with anger and slowly tries to say things to him. The language is unknown at first...but soon she manages to spit it out in an almost recongnizable english language. "yyyou......You! .......YOU ARE THE DEMON! YOU MUST DIE!! YOU MUST DIIIEEE!!!!" The Doctor is horrified by her howls and looks at her with his eyes wide open in fear. End of Part Four
