Description
like a giant vortex, work has sucked up all of my time and energy. it's been far too long since i last used carrara.
i decided it was time for a quickie. i threw this together with the help of the high-res textures from the following url.

the scene is super simple -- 3 concentric spheres, 1 distant light. i rendered each sphere separately and composited in photoshop so i didn't have to wait for transparency to render on the cloud layer.

What's the glow around the landmasses?

i assume you mean the light aqua color that follows the shore line? that would be the shallow water, i believe. take a look at the url i mentioned in the description to see the separate textures used for this image.

I was looking to see if Carrara would meet my 3D needs. I can do images like this I will be well satisfied.
